
When you think of the word training, what comes to mind? Perhaps, if you are like me, your mind immediately goes to on-the-job or strength training. Whatever type of training comes to mind, all forms of training share common elements.
All types of training have the goal of enhancing knowledge, skills, and abilities to improve performance and achieve specific outcomes. Training aims to foster growth and development at the individual, team, or organizational level. Each type of training is designed to address particular needs, whether technical, interpersonal, or compliance-related, contributing to personal and professional advancement.
Stepping into this new chapter of my life has caused an examination of my destructive behaviors. Through my examination, with some assistance from others, I realized that one of the root causes of my destructive behaviors is my overly reactive mind. Recently, my reactive mind has caused me some trouble. To prevent future issues with reactivity, I’ve adopted the analogy of training my mind like a puppy.
Rewiring my brain has revealed how often it defaults to survival mode when I feel threatened, prompting me to challenge self-limiting beliefs and negative thought patterns. I’ve learned to appreciate all emotions, especially sadness, anger, confusion, and aimlessness. Reprogramming involves shifting mental frameworks; I now view confusion as an opportunity to explore rather than succumbing to stress. I now decentralize romantic relationships as the ultimate source of love and happiness.
Moreover, I’m training my mind to see conflict as a chance to enhance problem-solving skills and implement boundaries as protective measures, not constraints. This shift in perspective allows me to navigate challenges with resilience and clarity, fostering healthy relationships and personal growth. Lastly, I’m cultivating curiosity about my triggers, striving for self-expression with ease, and embracing vulnerability as a pathway to authenticity and emotional freedom. This holistic approach to mental training empowers me to navigate life’s complexities with a sense of purpose and empowerment.
This journey of training my mind encompasses embracing vulnerability, growth, and resilience, ultimately paving the way for profound personal transformation. It’s about navigating life’s uncertainties with forgiveness, grace and openness, allowing me to forge deeper connections with myself and others. Through this process, I am cultivating greater self-awareness and emotional intelligence, empowering me to lead a more fulfilling and authentic life.
